Nuremberg was conquered by King Gustav II Adolf of Sweden in 1632, and gold and silver coins were minted in the city on behalf of Sweden that same year. The coin you see here bears the portrait of King Gustav II Adolf on the obverse (front) and the large Swedish coat of arms on the reverse (back).
