1 daler silvermynt, Stockholm, Karl XII, 1718
This emergency coin features Saturn, the god of time and fertility. In one hand he is carrying a small child, in the other he is holding a scythe – symbols of birth and death. The denomination is shown within a decorated circle crowned by a flower with five petals.
Five different coins featuring planets and Roman gods were issued in Sweden in 1718. These were what are known as emergency coins – a kind of credit coin issued to strengthen the treasury.
