The first Swedish coins
Olof Skötkonung ordered the first Swedish coins to be struck in around 995 (1–2). The mintmasters who made them came from England. It is obvious from the coins in the display case how similar the Swedish and English coins (3–4) are. But the first attempt to make coins in Sweden was short-lived. Production ceased after less than 40 years.
