Örtug, Stockholm, Hans, 1497–1501

In 1497, King Hans of Denmark succeeded in forcing rebellious Sweden back into the Kalmar Union by taking control of the Swedish crown himself. His power over Sweden was short-lived, however, as he was deposed following a rebellion in 1501.

During his reign, Hans demonstrated his power over Sweden by placing the coat of arms of the Danish Oldenburg dynasty on Swedish coinage, as seen here.
