Token from Bolltorp paper mill

Bolltorp paper mill is an example of several small mills that were established at seat farms or manors. The paper mill belonged to Bolltorps seat farm throughout its existence. The mill did not receive its privileges, i.e. the right to produce paper, until 1716, when its founder Christina Swart (1618-1695) had been dead for over twenty years. Although paper production may have started before 1716, it is highly unlikely that Christina saw any paper being made before her death.

On 21 December 1758 the mill burned down, but was rebuilt and operated until 1843. Several types of paper of different qualities were produced.
