From 1701, Riksens Ständers Bank issued what were known as transport notes. Transport notes were a way of transferring money between two people – they were intended to be transferred from one owner to the next and were initially issued in the required denominations. So the banknote could be worth almost anything, there was no consistency. Banknotes like this, with a printed denomination, were only issued from 1743 onwards.
The banknotes were made up of four pages, with the last two pages provided for signatures. According to the text on the banknote, it was invalid without signatures, but in reality the banknotes were transported in blank, i.e. unsigned. Often, the last two pages were simply torn off.
