1/4 öre, Avesta, Karl X Gustav, 1656

King Karl X Gustav's 1/4 öre coin is very similar to Queen Kristina's 1/4 öre, but instead of the coat of arms of the Vasa dynasty with the vase on the reverse (back) of the coin, we see the lion of the Palatinate dynasty. On the obverse (front) is the small coat of arms, three crowns, and the letters ‘C G R S’ which stand for CAROLUS GUSTAVUS REX SVECIAE - Karl Gustav King of Sweden. The coin is made in Avesta, where all the copper coins of Karl X Gustav were produced.
