Confectionery bowl, second half of the 17th century

This is a silver confectionery bowl with a glossy and matte finish and skilful ornamentation. The bowl has motifs of roses and acanthus leaves. The double S-shaped handles are moulded and soldered on. The handles have motifs of mascarons (human faces with distorted features).

There are no stamps on this confectionery bowl, but it is believed to have been made in the second half of the 17th century. The bowl is engraved on one side with the letters HL, which could be the initials of Henrik Lohe (1594–1667), uncle of Johan Lohe (1643–1704).
