1 fyrk, Arboga, Gustav II Adolf, 1627

This coin is a fyrk which was worth as much as 1/6 öre. It was the lowest denomination of all coins. The fyrk was originally a silver coin and it was first struck in Sweden in 1478. After 1601, fyrks were not struck in silver, but they reappeared in 1624 as copper coins. The coin on display reads Arboga, Fÿrk and 1627, a year when fyrks were only produced in Arboga. After Gustav II Adolf, the fyrk was called a 1/4 or 1/6 öre when it was produced during the years 1633 to 1660.
