10 riksdaler riksmynt, Westerbottens Enskilda Bank, 1866

Westerbottens Enskilda Bank began operating in 1866 and was based in Umeå. Of the private banks authorised to issue their own banknotes, Westerbottens Enskilda Bank was the northernmost. Banknotes were issued in denominations of 5, 10 and 50 riksdaler riksmynt in the early years and printed by the J. Bagge printing works in Stockholm. The vignette shows the Lapland coat of arms, a wild man, and symbols of the industries.

The banknotes later printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co in London depict a woman who was said to represent Queen Christina despite the fact the portrait did not resemble the queen.

The bank issued banknotes from 1866 to 1883 and gave up its right to issue banknotes in 1899.
