Money box, Gefle stads sparbank
The Gefle stads sparbank money box bearing the bank’s name is made of tinplate and shaped like a small red brick house. Only the bank had a key, so the owner of the box had to empty their savings out at the bank, where the amount was written by hand in the owner’s bankbook. This activity began in 1904. The idea of money boxes that people could keep at home and the way they were received was a real success.
The money box was manufactured by Erik Ohlsson, Helsingborg.
