10 kronor, Oscarshamns enskilda bank, 1877

Oscarshamns Enskilda Bank began operating in 1877 and was based in Oskarshamn. Smålands Enskilda Bank and Kalmar Enskilda Bank also operated in Småland. The bank issued banknotes in denominations of 5, 10, 50 and 100 kronor. Oscarshamns Enskilda Bank was taken over by Smålands Enskilda Bank in 1889.

The vignette on the banknote shows a woman with one hand on the town’s coat of arms. On the reverse is the city’s coat of arms, with King Oskar I’s crowned monogram held by two lions. Symbols for the different industries can be seen at the bottom of the banknote.

The 10-krona banknote from 1877 was printed at the J. Bagge printing works in Stockholm. The bank only issued banknotes in this year.
