1/8 daler, Stockholm, Karl, riksföreståndare, 1599

The reverse of the coin states that the denomination is 1/2 Ort. Ort was a medieval expression for a quarter of a denomination. A 1/2 ort was equal to 1/8, in this case 1/8 daler.

On the obverse (front) of the coin, the name of God Jehovah is written in Hebrew letters. This inscription was first used on Swedish coins in 1561 on Erik XIV's coronation coins. The last time it was used was on King Gustav II Adolf's 10 mark klippe coin in gold and 4 mark coin in silver, both struck in 1626.
