This double ducat of Queen Ulrika Eleonora of Sweden was struck in the autumn of 1719 from French subsidy gold, gold that Sweden had received as financial support from the French government for the war against Russia.

38,990 of these double ducats were made, and their average weight was about 7.54 grams. That was more than a double ducat should weigh. But more gold had to be used to make the coin worth 2 ducats because the subsidy gold had a lower gold content, 900/1000, than the standard ducat content, 976/1000.
