2 kronor, Carl XVI Gustaf, 2016

This type of 2-krona coin is one of the coins that began to be issued in 2016, when a coin and banknote exchange began in Sweden.

The portrait of the King is shown here in profile, together with the name, title and year of issue of the coin. Below the portrait are the initials of the designer, Ernst Nordin. The other side shows the denomination together with the national coat of arms and a stylised whirlwind. Like the other new coins, this coin was produced in the Netherlands but has Stockholm as its place of issue, whose initial ‘S’ is visible here. The second initial, ‘SI’, refers to the then Governor of the Swedish Central Bank, Stefan Ingves.
