5 kronor, Stockholm, Oscar II, 1899
This type of 5-krona was issued between the years 1881 and 1899. On the obverse (front) of the 5-krona we see the portrait of the king. On the reverse (back) is the small national coat of arms, three crowns, together with the denomination 5 kronor, all resting on two laurel branches.
The 5-krona was minted in gold between 1881 and 1920. After fifteen years, in 1935, the 5-krona returned, then minted in silver, and from 1972 in copper-nickel. In 2016, the 5-krona coin became a ‘gold coin’ again, minted in so-called Nordic gold, which is a gold-coloured metal alloy of copper, aluminium, zinc and tin.
