2 daler silvermynt, Avesta, Kristina, 1649

After the minting of 10 daler silver coins in 1644-1645 in Avesta, production was suspended for four years. In 1649, the production of plate money resumed when they began to produce plates in the lower and more convenient denominations of 1, 2 and 4 daler silver coins.

On the exhibited plate, the 2 daler Sölff:Mnt (silver coin) denomination can be seen in the centre stamp and the mintmaster mark of Avesta, Markus Kock: M, a shield with an arrow, and K. The mintmaster was the person who supervised the work in the mint. In the corner stamps, a crown is depicted together with the year of minting, and along the edge is Queen Kristina's name and title.
