1/4 gyllen, Hedemora/Söderköping, Gustav I Vasa, 1522
The display case shows the denomination ¼ gyllen, probably minted either in Hedemora or Söderköping in 1522. The coin was minted during Gustav Vasa's time as governor of Sweden, and he is shown in the centre with armour and sword. On his head he wears a beret with plumes and to the left of the king is a shield with a vase. The reverse shows a shield with crossed arrows and above the shield is a G for Gustav Vasa. The denomination was probably not minted in large quantities. It may, for example, have been a representation coin or a payment to a supporter.
