25 öre, Kongsberg, Oscar II, 1901
On the Norwegian 25-øre ring, the monogram of the King of the Union, Oscar II, is juxtaposed with the Norwegian coat of arms on the obverse side of the coin. On the reverse (back), we see the mark of the Kongsberg Mint. The history of the Norwegian Mint in Kongsberg begins with the founding of the Royal Mint in 1686, which became part of the Kongsberg Silverworks with the idea of minting silver from the local mines.
