10 000 kronor, Tumba, Sveriges riksbank, 1958

The second 10 000-krona banknote issued in Sweden was issued in December 1958. It is double-sided and shows the King Gustav VI Adolf in uniform on one side and a standing Mother Svea with the three-crown shield on the other.

The 1939 ten-thousand kronor note was still valid when this banknote was issued. Until 1987, we thus had two different types of 10,000-krona banknotes. The last one ceased to be valid in 1991. Such high denominations were no longer needed, as larger payments were made digitally. Moreover, despite hopes to the contrary, it was too easy to counterfeit.
