10 kronor, Hernösands Enskilda Bank, 1892

Hernösands Enskilda Bank in Ångermanland began operating in 1870, after having been granted a ten-year charter (right to conduct banking operations) by the Riksdag the previous year. It began by issuing 5 and 10 riksdaler riksmynt banknotes, which were printed by the Bagge printing works in Stockholm.

What you see here is one of the bank’s last banknotes, 10 kronor dating back to 1892, which was printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co in London. The vignette depicts Flora, the goddess of flowers and the coming of spring.

The bank issued banknotes from 1870 to 1892 and gave up its right to issue banknotes in 1903.
