2 öre silvermynt, Avesta, Gustav III, 1777

King Gustav III's copper coinage was very sparse. In 1772 and 1778, 1 öre copper coins were minted and between 1777-1778, 2 and 1 öre silver coins.

When the riksdaler became the main coin in 1777, the riksdaler was divided into 48 shillings and 1 skilling into 12 rundstycken. But no skilling coins were minted under Gustav III, but instead the öre coins were used, where 2 öre silver coins were equal to 1 skilling, 1 öre silver coin was 1/2 skilling and 1 öre copper coin was 1/48 skilling. It was not until 1802 that a skilling coin was minted.
