1 fyrk, Uppsala, Johan III, 1589

When Johan III was king, he only struck coins in Stockholm, apart from the coinage in Vadstena in 1586-1587 and in Uppsala in 1589-90. The king had coins struck in Uppsala because he and the mint had moved there in the autumn of 1589 to escape the plague that was raging in Stockholm.

In Uppsala, both the denominations fyrkar and örtug were struck. It is not stated on the coins that they were struck in Uppsala, this is only indicated by the fact that the vase on the fyrk is narrower than on the fyrk minted in Stockholm and that the örtugar has a star in the legend instead of a leaf.
