1/6 skilling, Avesta, Karl XIV Johan, 1831

In 1831, coins were minted at the Avesta mint for the last time. The denomination was 1/6 of a skilling, just like the coin in the stand. Since 1644, Avesta Mint had been responsible for virtually all copper coin production in Sweden. Everything from 10 daler silver coins weighing about 20 kilos, down to 1/12 shilling coins weighing 2.4 grams, had been minted there. But after the minting of King Karl XIV Johan's 1/6 shilling coin, the mint was closed down.
