2 kronor, Stockholm, Gustaf VI Adolf, 1959

This is the 2-krona coin issued between 1951 and 1971 when Gustav VI Adolf was King of Sweden. On one side the portrait of the king is depicted, facing left, with his name and title in the legend. The other side of the coin shows the large coat of arms dividing the year of issue (1959) at the top and the denomination (2 kr) in the centre. In the outer ring is the King's motto: ‘PLEDGE ABOVE ALL’.

2 kronor is again available today as a valid payment coin, but in a different form that was introduced in 2016. This type ceased to be minted in 1971 but could be used for payment until 2017, when it became invalid.
