1/2 öre, Stockholm, Gustav II Adolf, 1615

This 1 öre coin was minted in 1615 at the Stockholm mint. At that time, the goldsmith Gillis Gillisson Coyet, the younger, was mintmaster in Stockholm. A mintmaster is the manager of a mint and is responsible for ensuring that the coins have the correct weight. You can often see the mintmaster's mintmaster mark on the coins.

After Gillis finished his service as mintmaster in Stockholm in 1624, he was mintmaster at the mint in Säter for a few years. He then moved to Russia, where he became a gunsmith and died in Moscow in 1634.
