1/2 örtug, Västerås, Sten Sture d.y., 1512–1520

The issuing of regular örtugs was insignificant during Sten Sture’s first years as governor. Fyrks/half-örtugs like this coin dominated instead. This coin was minted sometime between 1512 and 1520.

Around the letter A, we see the inscription MONETA AROSIE (= Coin of Västerås), which indicates where the coin was made. The other side of the coin is adorned with a crown together with the name of Sten Sture.
