2/3 skilling banco, Stockholm, Oscar I, 1851
When the skilling banco coins began to be minted, they were struck in the denominations 2, 1, 2/3, 1/3 and 1/6 skilling banco. The engraver behind the skilling banco coins was Ludvig Persson Lundgren, who had been employed as an engraver at the Royal Mint since 1830. Ludvig's family lived at the Royal Mint and, when he had time, he taught two of his children, Per Henrik and Lea, the art of engraving coins and medals. Per Henrik was intended to succeed him, but it was instead his daughter Lea who became the Royal Mint's engraver.
