2 mark, Kalmar, Karl IX, 1604
This klippe coin was made in Kalmar when the future King Karl IX was Duke of Södermanland. During the years 1598-1604, Duke Karl had silver klippe coins issued in Stockholm, Gripsholm and Kalmar in the denominations 1, 2 and 4 marks. These were the last silver klippe coins to be issued in Sweden. Later in the 1620s, King Gustav II Adolf resumed issuing klippe coins for a few years, but these were copper klippes made in Säter, Nyköping and Arboga.
