1/2 öre silvermynt, Avesta, Fredrik I, 1720

The ½ öre silvermynt coin was minted for just two years in Sweden, 1720 and 1721. These coins were made in Stockholm and were mostly minted from old emergency coins dating back to 1716. On this coin, you can see traces of the motif that was on the old emergency coin.

The motif chosen for King Fredrik’s ½ öre coin is the same as for Queen Ulrika Eleonora’s 1 öre kopparmynt coin. Three crowns, the name and title of the sovereign, the year of issue and a crowned shield with crossed Dalecarlian arrows together with the denomination. The master of the Stockholm mint at this time was Lorentz Careelberg. He led the work at the mint.
