10 mark, Stockholm, Gustav II Adolf, 1626

This is the last klippe coin to be struck in gold. At this time, gold coins were minted to commemorate special events and were given to selected people. No documentation has been preserved as to why the 10 mark klippe coin was minted in 1626. It could be because the first knighthood order was established on the legal status of the nobility, because Sweden's second gymnasium was founded in Strängnäs or because of the birth of the future Queen Kristina.
