3 riksdaler banco, Wermlands Provincialbank, 1833

Wermlands Provincial-Bank was established in 1832 and had its head office in Karlstad. Already when the bank was established in 1832, branch offices were also opened in Kristinehamn and Filipstad, which was unusual in comparison with other private banks. Unlike Karlstad, these towns were close to the ironworks.

The bank's name was changed to Wermlands enskilda bank when the bank had just recieved its fourth banking licence in 1857. The bank became dominant in Värmland after merging with Kristinehamns Enskilda Bank in 1911.

The top of the banknote shows a crowned eagle with outstretched wings, sitting on symbols for the industries, a scythe, a rake, the sign for iron, etc. Below it is the motto ‘One for all and all for one’. The eagle is found in Värmland's provincial coat of arms.

The banknote was issued in 1833 and is worth three riksdaler banco. The bank issued banknotes in a wide range of denominations, first in riksdaler banco, from 1857 in riksdaler riksgälds, and finally after 1877 in kronor. Wermlands enskilda bank gave up its right to issue banknotes in 1901.
