Penning, Söderköping, Erik av Pommern, 1410–1439
The letter S with a crown indicates that this coin was struck in the coastal town of Söderköping in Östergötland. This variant was issued for Erik of Pomerania, probably after 1410.
Corresponding bracteates (single-sided coins) have been found, with a crowned A for Västra Aros (Västerås) and a crowned head (Stockholm) from the time of King Erik. As with the larger örtugs, the mint was generally indicated on the smaller pennings as well.
