10 kronor, Sundsvalls Enskilda bank, 1901

Sundsvalls Enskilda Bank in Medelpad was founded in 1864 with the ambition of being a bank for the whole of Northern Sweden. The bank issued banknotes in 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500 riksdaler riksmynt denominations, and in kronor from 1875.

The bank’s shipments to and from Stockholm were sent by passenger ship, which was faster and cheaper than land transport.

Sundsvallsbanken merged with Upplandsbanken in 1986 to form Nordbanken, which was bought by PK-banken in 1990 and is now part of Nordea.

This 10-krona note from 1901 was printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co in London.

The bank issued banknotes from 1865 to 1902 and gave up its right to issue banknotes in 1903.
